Pego is a festive small town with over 10,000 inhabitants. The local families are mostly worker and farmers. The Pegolinos are open, hospitable and they understand it to celebrate. There are fishing associations, the association of hunters and a shooting club. Singing and making music is in the blood of the local people. Belonging to the province of Alicante and on the border with the province of Valencia, both holidays are welcome.
Every Thursday there is a colorful weekly market near the center.

The historical village is located in a valley surrounded by mountains and is about 12km from the sea. The place is known for its wealth of water, which comes from the mountains and is a spring water of special quality.
Between the town of Pego and the coast is the well-known natural park Marjal with a magnificent flora and fauna. It is a paradise for human and animal, traversed by springs and rivers and with a size of 1,250 hectares. Here the special rice of the Pegolinos is cultivated, which is particularly large-grained and got the appropriate name `La Bomba`. A wide variety of migratory birds stop here.
Pego has a special microclimate, which is appreciated by botanists and hobby gardeners, because tropical plants grow here which are hardly found in the region.
